DJ LUM!X y Pia Maria han estrenado la canción y videoclip de "Halo", el tema con el que representarán a Austria en Turín 2022. El dúo fue seleccionado por la emisora pública austriaca, la ORF, el pasado mes de febrero. El país centroeuropeo envía una animada propuesta con el fin de levantar el ánimo a todos los espectadores de Eurovisión 2022.
Los artistas suceden así a "Amen", el tema con el que Vincent Bueno no logró clasificar a Austria para la final de Róterdam 2021. DJ LUM!X y Pia Maria lucharán por conseguir la ansiada plaza el próximo 12 de mayo durante la segunda semifinal del festival.

La directora de programas de la ORF, Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz, ha señalado que “El Festival de la Canción es siempre un espejo que refleja el estado de ánimo del mundo. Es por eso que me siento aún más confirmada para enviar una canción alegre, ligera y despreocupada con el fin de levantar el ánimo en Europa, especialmente en estos tiempos difíciles".
Sobre LUM!X y Pia María
El dúo está formado por Luca Michlmayr, nombre real del DJ LUM!X, y Pia Maria. Luca comenzó su carrera musical a la edad de 11 años y actualmente es uno de los artistas más exitosos del país. El DJ saltó a la fama en 2019 cuando su remix "Monster" de Meg & Dia se volvió viral. De madre italina, el joven DJ solía vivir en la ciudad anfritiona de Turín, por lo que el Festival de Eurovisión parece ser un verdadero punto culminante para obtener un gran resultado.
Por su parte, Pia Maria, de 18 años, es una tirolesa (Italia) que comenzó a escribir música a los 16 años de edad. Además de componer sus propias canciones, la artista es maquilladora profesional y trabaja en el Teatro Estatal Tirolés de Innsbruck.

Austria en Eurovisión
Austria debutó en el festival en Fráncfort 1957 con Bob Martin y el tema "Wohin, kleines pony". En su debut fueron últimos al recibir tan solo tres puntos, resultado que han repetido hasta en ocho ocasiones más. En Luxemburgo 1966 llegaría su primera victoria. El cantante Udo Jürgens, que ya había representado al país en 1964 y 1965, ganó el festival de Eurovisión con la canción "Merci, chérie"
La segunda victoria de Austria llegaría 48 años después cuando el país resurgió como el ave fénix tras una participación inestable y malos resultados. Conchita Wurst devolvió la gloria a Austria en el festival de Copenhague 2014.
Tal y como dice la canción, Conchita renace como el ave fénix sobre un escenario que parece estar en llamas. "Rise like a phoenix" es un tema compuesto por Charly Mason, Joey Patulka, Ali Zuckowski y Julian Maas.
Tras su victoria en 2014, el mejor resultado de Austrlia lo consiguió Cesár Sampson en Lisboa 2018 con el tema "Nobody but You". El cantante logró por vez primera la medalla de bronce para su país en el certamen europeo. El año pasado, Vincent Bueno no logró clasificar a su país para la gran final de Róterdam 2021 con la balada "Amen".
