República Checa ya tiene sucesores para Mikolas Josef. La bandaLake Malawi representará al país en el Festival de Eurovisión 2019 con la canción "Friend of a friend".
El trío ha sido elegido en un proceso on-line en el que se han combiando votos del público y un jurado profesional, compuesto por rostros eurovisivos como Alma (Francia), JOWST (Noruega), Ari Olafsson (Islandia), Ira Losco (Malta), Elina Nechayeva (Estonia), Ryan O'Shaughnessy (Irlanda), Cesar Sampson (Austria), Rasmussen (Dinamarca), Zibbz (Suiza) y AWS (Hungría).
Si bien, Lake Malawi quedó en segunda posición tras la votación de los espectadores (que decidieron a través de la app del festival); el grupo consiguió la candidatura gracias a los puntos del jurado.

Sobre Lake Malawi
La banda está formada por tres músicos: Albert Černý (vocalista, guitarrista y teclista), Jeroným Šubrt (bajista) y Antonín Hrabal (batería). Albert es, además, uno de los compositores del tema que interpretarán en Tel Aviv, junto a Jan Steinsdoerfer y Maciej Mikolaj Trybulec.
Lake Malawi tiene un disco en el mercado y llevan tocando juntos desde el 2013. Alguna vez han conseguido llevar su música fuera de las fronteras de República Checa, pero ahora con Eurovisión están seguros de que su círculo de fans se abrirá. De hecho, ya en el proceso de selección, aseguraban que el hecho de cantar en inglés les favorecería internacionalmente.
Por cierto, un dato curioso, el nombre de la banda sale de la canción "Calgary" de Bon Iver.
