Bulgaria, tras un largo proceso, ha decidido que Kristian Kostov sea su representante en Eurovisión 2017.
Es el candidato más joven de esta edición. Nació en Rusia, en la capital, Moscú, hace 17 años. De padre búlgaro, su madre, en cambio, es de Kazajistán. Los que le apoyan dicen que es el artista perfecto para este año en el que el lema es "Celebrate Diversity".
Sabe lo que es actuar delante de las cámaras porque hace tres años fue finalista de La Voz Kids en Rusia. Su mentor durante el programa fue el ganador de Eurovisión, Dilma Bilan.
La canción con la que acude al Festival se llama "Beautiful mess" y ha sido compuesta por Borislav Milanov (búlgaro), Sebastian Armann (Austria) y Joacim Bo Persson (sueco).
Kristian dice sobre el título de la canción, que en español sería algo así como "Bonito desorden", que es perfecto: "Es auténtico, interesante y transmite la idea principal de la canción. Me encanta el tema porque refleja lo que soy yo".
En noviembre empezó a trabajar con el equipo de compositores pensando que podían presentarse a Eurovisión: "Ahora estoy intentando encontrarme a mí mismo y "Beautiful Mess" es la primera canción que tiene un profundo significado para mí".
