Tras su triunfo en el Melodifestivalen 2011, el cantante Eric Saade representará a Suecia en la próxima edición del Festival de Eurovisión con la canción "Popular".
El principal objetivo de Eric Saade será conseguir el pase a la gran final del Festival y superar así el varapalo del pasado año, cuando su compatriota Anna Bergendahl quedó eliminada en la semifinal con la canción "This is my life".
Suecia participó por primera vez en el Festival de Eurovisión en el año 1958 y ha ganado en cuatro ocasiones, la última en el año 1999 en Jerusalén con Charlotte Nilsson y su "Take Me To Your Heaven".
