Star HD is RTVE's strategic move to bring the best entertainment programs, drama series and movies to its followers in the Americas as well as to take advantage of HD technology to enhance the experience of the TVE's international viewers.
It is a thematic channel whose schedule will incorporate the best drama and entertainment programs from RTVE, supplementing the channels currently broadcast by RTVE for the Americas: TVE Internacional and 24 Horas.
The STAR HD broadcast test began during August, with a loop of eight hours of programs. In this first phase, the channel will be broadcast via satellite on a free-to-air basis. From the final date of its launch in the first half of 2016, the feed will be encoded in the same way as for TVE and 24 Horas channels, and distributed through various American pay-TV broadcasters.
