19TH COMPETITION OF WORKS FOR RADIO

INAEM-RADIO CLÁSICA

FESTIVAL DE MÚSICA DE ALICANTE 2012

In order to promote the creation of new works for radio, the INAEM of Culture Ministry and Radio Clásica (RNE) will jointly stage this Competition, in accordance with the following CONDITIONS:

1.- Innovative Character

Newly created works shall be presented that have not previously been broadcast and that have not received any previous awards.

2.- Works Created for Radio

The works that are presented must necessarily be pieces created for radio, which is to say, their ideal medium of production and dissemination shall be the radio. These works may be based on the use of words, noises, music, electronic or radio broadcasting edits and other elements. Entries must have a minimum duration of 25 minutes.

3.- Language

If the work is speaking, the main language employed shall be Spanish.

4.- Participants

Any natural person may take part in the Competition, irrespective of their age or nationality. There shall be no limit on the number of entries per participant. Only the winner/s of the previous year's Competition shall be excluded from taking part.

5.- Presentation Format

The works should be presented in CD Audio format, enclosing a written document with the title of the work and explanatory notes.

6.- Presentation Period

The deadline for receiving entries shall be 08/09/2012.

7.- Delivery of Competition Entries

The entries may be delivered by any of the means provided for in Article 38 of Law 30/1992 Regarding Ordinary Administrative Regimes and Procedures. Said entries must be clearly labelled 'XIX Concurso de obras de creación radiofónica' (19th Competition of Works for Radio) and shall be sent to the following postal address:

In case of delivery by hand: from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

8.- Anonymity of Participants

The entries must be sent in anonymously, in sealed envelopes and without any distinguishing marks. These envelopes shall contain another sealed envelope containing a photocopy of the creator/s national identification document (DNI) or passport and personal details. This sealed envelope shall be identified on the outside by a legend of the creator's choice.

9.- Jury

The Jury shall be appointed by CNDM and Radio Clásica from among a series of well-known figures from the sound and electro-acoustic music world. The Jury shall choose the entry it considers to be most suitable, in accordance with the criteria of innovative appeal and quality. The corresponding decision shall be announced in the media, as well as on the web pages belonging to the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (National Centre for the Dissemination of Music) (INAEM-Ministry of Culture) and Radio Clásica (RNE). The Jury's decision shall be final.

10.- Prize

The winning entry shall be commissioned by INAEM, based on a gross budget of 4,000 euros. This commission shall be considered the Competition Prize.

The radio broadcast itself shall take place during the last quarter of the year 2012 and the piece shall be presented for the first time at the nineteenth edition of the Festival de Música de Alicante.

11.- Entries That Are Not Granted Prizes

Entries that are not granted a prize shall be available to their authors so that they can be collected in person from the INAEM, prior identification of the legend corresponding to the work and within a period of three months starting from the date on which the winner is announced. Once this three-month period has elapsed, any entries that have not been collected shall be destroyed in order to preserve the anonymity of the Competition candidates.

12.- Assignment of Broadcasting and Publication Rights

Radio Clásica, which belongs to Spanish National Radio (RNE), and INAEM reserve the right to broadcast the winning work. To this end, acceptance of the prize on the part of the winner shall entail assignment of all the public communication, reproduction and distribution rights to RNE that may be required for the winning work to be aired by any of the broadcasting stations belonging to SME RNE, S.A. Should texts by other authors be used, the authorisation granted by said authors must be accredited.
