London, 1962. The miniskirt, black and white and supermodels are in fashion when the Beatles break into the world of music. Their first cover was taken by photographer Terry O'Neill. With "Beatlemania" in full swing, another band was making their way onto the top charts. A group known as The Rolling Stones. Gered Mankowitz was just 19 years old when he joined the band with his camera.
In the eyes of the whole world, they were two rival bands Pop against rock, glamour and modernity up against scruffy bad boys¿ and a legendary division was forged. However, the truth of the matter is that it was all a marketing ploy. Both photographers were accomplices and witnessed the friendship between the musicians. Today, their photos bring us closer to the best moments of these musicians... revolutionaries of the 1960s, having already established themselves as classics.
